Elana Brody is a singer-songwriter and Jewish prayer leader with roots in rural Appalachia, and a decade of life in New York City. She composes and performs original songs with an empowered creative energy and emotion that draw audiences in and keep them there. Her songwriting is compared to lyrical and vocal pioneers Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt, and modern artists like Regina Spektor and Gillian Welch, but she stands alone in her eclectic offering of “genre-bending” song styles. From dancing in a red swimsuit on a beach in Costa Rica to electronic pop production, to delivering lyrics that “make you think” in country western twang, entertaining hoards of passerbys on the streets of NYC with vaudevillian charm, and singing the most heartfelt ballads you’ve heard in a long time - Elana is going to surprise you and potentially make you laugh or cry. She also brings her work as a prayer-leader to the stage, often inviting the audiences to sing along with her songs for social change or personal prayer.
